COUPLES RETREAT at NPS
Christ the King Chapel is holding a couples retreat on two dates Sat February 27th and Sat June 5th. Materials will be provided including copies of books “Please Understand Me” and “The 5 love Languages”. Childcare is not available so you are encouraged to trade dates with another couple to provide childcare for each other for the day. This is a great one day retreat to reconnect with your spouse and gain insight into who each of you are at this point of your lives. Please contact Petty Officer Alvarado at 656-2241 as soon as possible since 6 slots are available for each retreat.

SWEETHEARTS DINNER FEB 20TH
If you have signed up for the Sweethearts Dinner here is some information you will need to know. Your children must have current registration at Child and Youth Services Central Registration Office. Childcare drop off starts at 6pm at Porter Youth Center and the dinner starts promptly at 6:30 at the Pasadera Country Club off of Hwy 68, the address (if you would like to Google directions) is 100 Pasadera Drive.
The dress code for the evening is semi formal, no denim is allowed at the country club. Yeah, an excuse to get dressed up, but not quite as fancy as a military ball!! A dress or nice slacks is quite appropriate or break out that black cocktail dress. Guys, a shirt and tie with maybe a jacket if you have one.
We will be handing out tickets for the dinner the week of Feb 9th and 16th and you will get to pre order your main course and dessert. Please check the spelling of your name when you pick up your tickets.
If your active duty spouse is attending DLI and you think he might need an exception to policy to attend please have him/her start the process of getting approved. This is a Chapel sponsored function so we are not expecting any complications but please check with your command if you are concerned.

THIS QUARTER’S BIBLE STUDIES
FOLLOWING GOD: ENHANCING YOUR MARRIAGE
Judy Rossi
Being in a love-relationship with Jesus Christ can’t help but influence our love-relationship with our spouses. Jesus will see to that. He calls us to Himself and lovingly begins to retool our souls. Much of this work takes place in the workshop of our marriages. This book encourages married women to examine where they really stand regarding the commitment made to their two covenant partners–Jesus Christ and their husbands. Women who read this book will also discover the Creator’s intent for the holy institution of marriage; what His definition of love is and how that compares to what they have been taught about love. Frank talk about sex and sexuality is addressed, and advice is given for rekindling flames of romance in seasoned marriages. Through this challenging Bible study, wives of all ages are called to examine their attitudes about love and marriage as they relate to truth found in God’s Word.
BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND, WINNING THE BATTLE IN YOUR MIND
Joyce Meyer
If you’re one of millions who suffer from worry, doubt, confusion, depression, anger or condemnation, you are experiencing an attack in your mind. Overcoming negative thoughts that come against your mind brings freedom and peace. Find out how to recognize damaging thought patterns and stop them from influencing your life. In Battlefield of the Mind, Joyce Meyer guides you through an honest self-appraisal by sharing the trials, tragedies and ultimate victories of her own marriage, family and ministry—including the truth she learned about what she was thinking and feeling every step of the way. You’ll gain insight into how Joyce won the battle in her own mind—and how you can as well.
THE PARENT ADVENTURE: PREPARING YOUR CHILDREN FOR A LIFETIME WITH GOD
Selma Wilson
The Parent Adventure challenges parents to be proactively involved in parenting by providing a compelling yet practical and biblical case to engage in one of the greatest adventures of life – getting our children ready for life with God. This book makes a compelling case for the church to play the pivotal role in shifting parents’ view of parenting from their own experience to a positive, biblical adventure of preparing their kids for a life with God.
A BEAUTIFUL OFFERING: RETURNING GOD’S LOVE WITH YOUR LIFE
Angela Thomas
Given the enormity of God’s grace and love to you, do you long to show your gratefulness by offering your life to Him? Angela Thomas, author of the best-selling Do You Think I’m Beautiful did. Enthralled by God’s love, she turned to the Sermon on the Mount to learn how to glorify her loving Father with her life. Along the way, she came to see the Beatitudes not so much as a list of commands but rather a list of “when you are’s” offering a spiritual inheritance. Rather than requiring perfection, discover that God simply requires your gracious obedience. In His eyes, your life, complete with mistakes, blemishes, and imperfections, is A Beautiful Offering. Each chapter includes questions for reflection and discussion.
THE BELOVED DISCIPLE
Beth Moore
John the apostle must have thought he had seen everything. Having been with Jesus all the years of his ministry, John witnessed more miracles than he could count, saw more displays of power than he could comprehend, and experienced more love than he could fathom. And one unforgettable morning young John outran Peter to his Savior’s empty tomb. Just as Christ took John on a lifelong journey into the depths of his love, He will do the same for you. The bridegroom’s love is unmatched and inexhaustible, and He is waiting to lavish it on you, His beloved.
LOOKING THROUGH THE PRISM OF PROMISE
Machaela Curry
Do you remember hearing those familiar phrases, “I cross my heart or I pinky swear?” When you were younger, did others say them to you or did you use them yourself? Those words once held the hope of wonderful promises coming true. Now that you are older and wiser, though, you know better. You probably even look to see if fingers or toes are crossed as promises are made. In Looking through the Prism of Promise, we will see how promises really do come true – promises that have been made by the One who has never crossed His fingers. Come and experience seven promises that were made and seven promises that were kept. Those promises still stand today because they were made for you too!
